October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

our sensitive girl Jazzi
Four out of our five dogs are adopted. They all found us really.
We all know there's an abundance of shelter dogs out there looking for a forever home.   Certainly owning a dog isn't for everyone. Pets require time and vet bills are costly. Many breeds need special care or someone to at least take them on daily walks.

The good news is there are lots of other things you can do to help!

1) Contact your local shelter to make or donation or volunteer some time.
2) Use the internet to make others aware, blog, tweet or post information on Facebook.
3) Blog or share a story and picture of an adoptable dog that has touched your heart.
4) Talk to others about the importance of pet adoption.

Here are a couple of sites that offer information on pet adoptions across the nation:

http://www.petfinder.com
http://www.adoptapet.com

And of course there are many specialized groups that rescue specific breeds. A quick internet search should link you up with the breed of your choice.

Go spread the word ADOPT this month and every month.
