I Love Macarons
Growing up in a house steeped in French heritage, you'd think I'd be well versed in ...Frenchiness.
Zoot alors! It has come to my immediate attention that I am lacking important macaron knowledge. No...not those coconut macaroon thingies (yummy as they are). Real FRRAANCH macarons.
Swiftly deciding to set this faux pas straight, I found a delightful little french cafe, during my recent trip to California. It was Paris in a Cup in Orange, California. Upon opening the door, to my delight, here was the sight I beheld: HEAVEN!!
Without skipping a beat, I flew up to the counter (leaving my bewildered mother holding the cafe door, still open...my bad) & proceeded to order a package of mouthwatering macarons. I carried them out of the store as if they were Tiffany jewels & proudly announced to my dad (who was patiently shopping with us that day) that I have purchased m*a*c*a*r*o*n*s for our desert that night. Sound the trumpets please!
He said "I don't like coconut" AGH! Like nails on a chalkboard! Horrors no, no no! Not those macaroons. These (did you hear angels singing? i did). That night I brought out the perfectly pink bag containing the little box of delights.
Raspberry, vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, passion fruit. The flavors were astonishing! I can guarantee, next time I say I'm buying macarons my dad will say "Can't wait"!
